Securely light your path to the decentralized web.

Lantern is a Stellar wallet — on Chrome and Android — that screens every transaction before you sign (on testnet, against an on-chain scam registry too), and has an AI tell you in plain language what it does. So scams never make it past the glow.

Why Lantern

Your keys. Your coins. An AI watching your back.

Everything a Stellar wallet should do — send, swap, earn, and cash out — plus a safety net between you and every signature. The risk verdict is rules and a public registry you can check; the AI explains it in words.

key

Non-custodial

Your private keys are encrypted on-device and never leave it. No accounts, no custodians — just you.

security

Scan every signature

Payments, trustlines, contract calls — each one is decoded, explained in plain language, and gated when it's high-risk.

campaign

Report once, protect everyone

On testnet, every review checks the counterparty against Lantern's on-chain blacklist registry, and one tap reports a scammer to it — so the next wallet is warned too. It's a live Soroban contract anyone can inspect: CBJWD6SA…G623F on testnet, WASM hash 40fd3771…5be23783.

code

Open-source scanner

The engine behind every review is @lantern/scanner — MIT-licensed and standalone, so any Stellar wallet, dApp or CLI can decode, explain and screen a transaction before it's signed.

published_with_changes

Checked again at send

Right before a transaction is submitted, Lantern simulates and screens it once more — so a counterparty reported while you were reviewing still stops you.

shield_person

Guardian recovery

Lose your seed, keep your funds. Appoint guardians and recover onto a new device with Stellar-native multisig — no 12 words to lose.

savings

Earn yield

Supply assets to Blend lending pools — including our own Lantern Earn pool — and earn yield. Withdraw anytime.

account_balance

Cash in & out

Move between crypto and your bank or card through regulated SEP-24 anchors, right inside the wallet.

swap_horiz

In-wallet swaps

Swap XLM and assets at the best price across Stellar's decentralized exchange — without leaving Lantern.

grid_view

Mini-app browser

Explore Stellar dApps in a sandboxed frame. Connecting shares only your public key — signing always needs a separate prompt.

content_paste_search

Paste-to-check

Drop in a suspicious address or message and Lantern flags scam patterns instantly, on-device.

devices

Android & Chrome

One wallet, two homes: a Chrome/Edge extension and an Android app, built from a single codebase.

The safety net

See the risk before you sign.

  • verified_user Reported-address & drainer detection, checked against the on-chain registry on testnet
  • campaign One-tap report of a scammer to the registry
  • warning Plain-language warnings, not raw hex
  • block High-risk transactions gated behind a confirm step
  • lock Advisory only — Lantern never signs or sends for you

Walkthrough

A short tour of the wallet: the home screen, a transaction screened before you sign, swaps, yield and cash out.

Real screens from the Lantern Android app — balances, sandboxed dApps, live yield, and guardian-grade settings.

science Beta install

Install the Beta

Lantern isn't in the app stores yet. On Android, it's a one-tap APK. On Chrome or Edge, load the extension in Developer Mode — about a minute either way. The APK and the extension are published on every release, with SHA-256 checksums to check your download against.

android

On Android? Just the APK

Download lantern-<version>-testnet.apk on the phone, open it, and allow installs from this source if asked. That's it — the steps below are only for the desktop extension.

1

Download & unzip

Download lantern-extension-<version>.zip and unzip it to a folder you'll keep — Chrome loads it from there every time. Download it only from golantern.xyz or Lantern's GitHub release, and check it against SHA256SUMS.

2

Open Chrome extensions

Go to chrome://extensions in your address bar.

3

Enable Developer Mode

Flip the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.

4

Load unpacked

Click Load unpacked and select the folder you unzipped — the one with manifest.json directly inside it.

5

Pin & open

Pin Lantern to your toolbar, click the lantern, and create or import a wallet.

Chrome says Lantern can "read and change all your data on all websites". That's so websites can offer Connect with Lantern: a small script passes a site's requests to Lantern, which asks you about each one. It never reads the page. You can switch it off in Settings → Connected sites.

update

Updating from 0.6.2 or earlier?

Newer versions of the extension have a fixed ID, so Chrome sees them as a new extension and your wallet won't be in it at first. Unzip the new version into a new folder and load that one; don't unzip over the old folder or press Reload on the old Lantern, which can remove the only copy of your wallet. Have your recovery phrase ready, then choose Import Wallet. Keep the old Lantern installed until your wallet shows in the new one. From then on, updates keep your wallet.
